Eskdale Mill & Heritage Trust is a small heritage organisation based in rural Eskdale in west Cumbria and has been registered as a charity since 2006. It owns Eskdale Mill, a Grade 2* listed complex dating back to 1547. Contributing towards the Lake District National Park's status as a World Heritage Site, this is the last remaining working water cornmill in the Lake District. It boasts two restored working waterwheels complete with milling machinery plus a newly installed hydro power wheel making the mill a unique place for people to come and visit. With mediaeval origins, the visitor attraction provides insights into a way of life now long gone and transports people back in time.
Its members and supporters provide a vital lifeline to the mill’s day-to-day operations and ensure it can remain open to the public as a cultural centre and provide a place for learning and enjoyment. Our work includes keeping our buildings, grounds and mill machinery maintained, keeping our visitor centre open to the public and providing opportunities for a range of community groups and volunteers to gain valuable experiences.
Your donation will be well received and will help to safeguard the mill’s future for years to come.
